New students at the University of Lagos have two December dates to put in their diaries. Orientation starts on Monday 7 December, while matriculation is scheduled for Friday 11 December. The university published the 2026/27 timetable on 2 November for those newly admitted through UTME, Direct Entry and ICE. The programme runs through Sunday 13 December.
For the first three mornings, students can head to the same venue, Jelili Adebisi Omotola Hall, for a 9am start. Monday’s discussion covers campus safety, including sexual harassment and drug misuse. Tuesday is the day to bring questions about library services, the university’s finance office, health services, insurance or security.
Wednesday morning deals with a different part of student life. The university lists examination rules, penalties for misconduct and entrepreneurship among the subjects. Students looking for guidance on exam conduct can plan for that session rather than waiting until the formal matriculation ceremony.
The venue changes on Thursday 10 December. The university lists J.F. Ade Ajayi Auditorium for the guided campus tour at 9am. The careers session is at noon at Jelili Adebisi Omotola Hall. Someone heading straight to the hall used on Monday would therefore be at the afternoon venue for the morning activity.
Matriculation is scheduled for 9am on Friday at Omotola Hall. For new Muslim students, the university mosque will host a Jumat service at 1pm that day. The timetable lists a thanksgiving service for new Christian students at 9am on Sunday at the university chapel, Chapel of Christ Our Light.
What it means for you: if you are arranging transport or sharing the schedule with family, mark the tour, matriculation and religious services separately. A relative coming for matriculation needs Friday morning’s time and venue. A new student following the full programme will need the Thursday tour location as well.
