Nigeria don launch distribution of two million packs of sanitary towels together with learning materials for girls in public basic schools. Education ministry say the support cover all 36 states and Federal Capital Territory. Dem launch am for Abuja on October 12 under Flow with Confidence programme to reduce barriers wey dey affect school attendance.

The girls suppose receive the supplies with school bags, shoes, exercise books, mathematics textbooks and writing materials. Officials describe the combined package as support to help girls continue education. The announcement concern beginning of distribution; e no prove say every school or intended beneficiary don already collect package.

Education Minister Tunji Alausa say dem dey put the programme inside Universal Basic Education Commission and World Bank-supported Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment. According to ministry, UBEC go make annual provision for sanitary towels, while AGILE go continue relevant support throughout the period wey the project dey operate.

For the event, officials also discuss separate learners retention support plan. Dem say first phase go give N20,000 grants to 100,000 learners from N2 billion allocation. That cash support plan different from the two million sanitary towel packs; people no suppose join the numbers as if na one beneficiary total.

For communities, delivery need more than national launch. Schools need clear information about distribution arrangements, quantity wey dem receive and learners wey benefit. Ministry call on state authorities and education bodies to ensure accountability. Records of delivery go make am easier to check whether support reach the people wey dem plan am for.

Families suppose follow school and education authority notices for local arrangements instead of assuming say the announcement mean immediate right to collect money. The important education result na whether girls fit attend school and continue learning with fewer practical barriers. To check that result, follow-up must go beyond counting materials when programme just start.
