People served by five electricity feeders should plan for a daytime interruption on Tuesday, 3 November, while contractors work at the Irrua transmission substation in Edo State. The Transmission Company of Nigeria has set aside 10am to 5pm for the work. Its notice names the Ehor, Uzebba, Ubiaja, Ekpoma and Agbor feeders, each rated at 33 kilovolts.

The timetable covers two separate daytime periods. TCN listed Monday, 2 November, and Tuesday, 3 November, with the same seven hours on each day. It did not announce a continuous shutdown through Monday night. Its notice describes what was scheduled. It does not give a record of when power actually went off or returned at any individual address on Monday.

The work concerns the 100-megavolt-ampere transformer at the 132/33-kilovolt substation. Contractors are scheduled to put an installed SERGI fire protection system into service. The equipment rating identifies the transformer on which they are working. The announcement does not say there was a fire or that a new transformer will be installed on Tuesday.

Two companies have different roles here. TCN operates the transmission facility. Benin Electricity Distribution Company takes power in bulk for delivery to customers farther along the network. TCN says the distributor cannot take that supply for the five named feeders during the maintenance hours. The notice defines the affected area by electrical connection.

What it means for you: if you need power for work, study or refrigeration on Tuesday, check your feeder with the distributor before changing your plans. A town name in the announcement helps identify a circuit. It does not tell you how every street or building in that town is connected.

Five o’clock is the end of the scheduled Tuesday window. It is useful for planning, but it is not confirmation that a particular customer will have electricity at that minute. For the status of a specific connection, the relevant information is the distributor’s local update.
