Enugu Air says it has received approval for a Lagos–London Gatwick service and plans to begin flights in December 2026. Its announcement creates a potential new option for Nigeria–Britain travellers, but the distinction matters: this is a planned service, not a report of a completed inaugural flight. The Nigerian departure airport named is Lagos, despite the airline’s Enugu name.

The airline’s statement, published by Premium Times on 4 November as a press release, says bookings are open. It names Omni-Blu Aviation as the designated operating partner. That makes the identity of the operator an important detail for a passenger comparing offers: the company marketing a journey and the company operating the aircraft need not be the same.

African Press Agency’s 5 November account says the airline’s statement did not spell out flight frequency or aircraft type. Separately, Aviation Metric reported four weekly flights and a 1 December start, citing the promoters and a permit it said it had seen. Those additional details remain attributed to that report; Wahala Today has not independently inspected the permit or tested a booking.

This would extend an airline launched in July 2025 with Embraer E170 and E190 aircraft. The November statement places its first international flight, to Douala in Cameroon, on 23 September 2026. Those are background milestones, not events that happened this week. The announcement does not mean the aircraft used for domestic routes will necessarily fly the London service.

Enugu Air presents the proposed link as a way to improve travel and trade. Those are expected benefits, not measured results. The reports reviewed do not establish a particular fare saving, guaranteed connection or level of passenger demand. A further advertised route can widen the choice on paper while its practical value still depends on the eventual timetable and ticket conditions.

What it means for you. Before committing to a journey, check that the booking shows Lagos and London Gatwick, the operating airline, the actual travel dates, baggage allowance and change or refund terms. Confirm the terminal through the airline’s current instructions. A December launch announcement is not a substitute for a confirmed itinerary, and this report does not endorse a seller or promise that schedules cannot change.
