Qatar Airways announced a codeshare partnership with WestJet on 26 October, adding its QR flight code to services operated by the Canadian airline. The arrangement expands how passengers can book onward Canadian connections through Toronto and Montreal.

The announced destinations include Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Halifax and Winnipeg, among other cities. These connections extend the travel options beyond the two entry gateways. They are WestJet services carrying a partner code, rather than new Qatar-operated flights to every city listed.

The agreement also gives WestJet passengers access to onward journeys through Qatar Airways' wider network. The release names Nairobi, New Delhi, Singapore and Jeddah as examples, illustrating the partnership's connection between Canadian domestic travel and international destinations.

Separately, Qatar says its own Canadian frequencies rose from twelve to fourteen weekly from 25 October, with Toronto and Montreal each served daily. That capacity change and the codeshare are related developments, but they are different ways of expanding the airline's offer.

For an individual itinerary, the marketing code and the operating airline describe different roles. Identifying who flies each sector helps a passenger interpret the booking accurately. The partnership announcement does not set out every fare condition or benefit attached to every possible connection.

The concrete development is a combination of more frequent Qatar services at its Canadian gateways and access to WestJet connections beyond them. Its usefulness will vary with the route and timetable a passenger needs, while the release establishes the carriers' new commercial arrangement.
